WOW!!! What can I say that where I go folk watch and talk. I say that because a year after my book "Life Beyond Size 6" has been released there has been controversy about Chapter 8 "Sex and the Full Figured Woman". To make a long story short, my walk with Christ has come into question because I chose to tell women to be confident in themselves emotionally, spiritually and physically. The physical is what some people at my church are having a problem with. I got a call from my pastor about the contents of said chapter. Needless to say the conversation and the outcome weren't good. Nevertheless, I press on. I am for one very proud of myself and my creation. For the folk who have read my book and for the ones who haven't, but lend support to what I do, thank you. I appreciate it. Anyone who writes knows that it isn't easy to put your self out there and then be transparent on top of that. Its hard because I have been judged unfairly, but I still keep on. I will be making sure that all parties that feel they have been wrongly associated with my book are vendicated as soon as possible. The church has a responsibilty to address sex with the married couple as well as the single person? It been taboo to long? I remember R. Kelly's song trapped in the closet. You got saved, santified church folk having sex (and yes unmarried), but not protecting themselves. HIV and AIDS are running rampant in the Black Community not the White Community...BLACK FOLKS. No matter what you say you can't stop folk from having sex, but you can educate them.
Until Later, Be Blessed

Good Day to all, I am sooooooo tired, but I am happy. It is something to try to divide time between my son's efforts (percussionist in the band and freshman in high school) and my career endeavors. These few last months have been truly amazing watching my son on the field play his drum and get the fans moving. He is a true percussionist immersing himself into every drum and learning each and every one. I have truly taken on the "BAND MOM" persona. I love being around those kids and giving them wisdom along the way. Last night was so fun because it was Homecoming for the school (the football team lost), but the band was awesome as always. Watching my boo on the field as one of the only freshman to make the marching band is just more than I can say. Now while I play Band mom, taking kids to the stadium and running around getting supplies for them, I am also doing my thing with this book. It is proving to be something that will become somewhat of a cult following soon. I have another speaking engagement in Mississippi this weekend at the Grand Casino for the 5th Annual BBW Casino Weekend at 2pm . These ladies and their admirers know how to do it up grand style which host a weekend of networking, fashion shows, discussions and a little dancing too. I look forward to speaking to the ladies about the "5s".
Things are just forming as I type this. I have been asked to speak for Black History Month at the University of Memphis which is hosted every year by the Black Student Association. I will be having an intimate conversation with the ladies about "Loving Yourself As You Are" among other things. This will be a big deal for me as some of you know because I also work at the University of Memphis. I will post the date and time later. Now I would be remissed if I didn't mention that also I have been asked to possibly be an advisor for a new orgnization on the campus for ladies of size called "Empowering Women of Curves" -EWOC for short. The organization is still going through its formation stages, but in talks with the powers that be it is probably a go. This group from the looks of it early on will be a formidable force as it seeks to not only empower young women of size, but destroy myths associated with being plus-size. I looking forward to working with these bright young minds as the year progresses.
Well that is all for now. Stay tuned and be Blessed.

I can never say again that my life is boring. My son is in high school and on the drumline and I am an author. Who would have thunk it .
I cannot forget to add that I had a wonderful time with Bev Johnson on her show on August 1st. Bev didn't remember that she has been a constant force for me getting my foot in the door. For that I am eternally grateful. There are no words to express how wonderful she is. Her assistant Ms. Joyce is a gem. I went in there and did my thing and surprisingly I wasn't nervous. Bev loved the book and continues to show me love by recommending it to more and more beautiful plus size sisters out there trying to find out who they are. Thank you Bev.....much luv.
Now on to my next event!!
Davis-Kidd Booksellers will host my next book signing in their store on Saturday, September 16th @ 1pm. Yes I know thats the same day as the Classic, but I will be doing both. I am so excited about this new transistion in my life. Continue to pray for a sista.

I am like a little kid right now. I was just on television yesterday on Live at 9 with Marybeth Conley and Alex Coleman. They were so nice. Marybeth paid me so many compliments that I just blushed. We were both putting on our makeup before the interview in the Greenroom and she was just the doll. She and Alex are so great. I am still amazed at my comfort in front of the camera. For those that know me I can get sooooooo nervous. I mean to the point of shaking uncontrolably, but that didn't happen. I even could stand to watch myself on television. Seeing as since I am always behind the scenes; to be in front of the camera doing an interview was like WOW. I feel I get better everytime It was so much fun. Alex is so great and it was just awesome to see them work. I thank them so much.
The WDIA interview has been postponed until another time due to the untimely death of Jaye Michael Davis of WDIA. I have already expressed my sentiments to the staff at WDIA, but I pray for peace and strength for the Moore family in this time.
Blessings. |

Wow this has been a worldwind week. I taped my interview with WUMR 91.7 on Monday and it was broadcasted today at 11:30 a.m. I can't say enough great things about Mr. Massey. He made me feel so at home. I was so at ease and you could hear that in the interview. Now on Tuesday I taped my interview with WMC-TV Channel 5. I will have to let everybody know when that interview will air. The folk at Channel 5 were so nice. I got a chance to meet Konji Anthony, Ben Watson and Peggy Phillips. These are the nicest folk. I guess I shouldn't expect any less. They welcomed me with open arms. Thanks guys. I also got to see an old friend and colleague, Lamar Davis who is a cameraman for the station. Now next up will be my book signing on the 1st at Urban Knowledge. I am excited about this. Alisha Yvonne and the gang at UK are wonderful and I thank Alisha so much for giving me the space in her store to shop my book. A new friend in Jackson Brown at 103.5 Soul Classics has been pumping me up and I am so grateful. For those of who don't remember Mr. Brown used to be an air personality at Magic 101. Old School at its finest. Jackson definitely believes in a sista's dream and I appreciate that. My next events are coming after the book signing and thats a live interview with Marybeth Conley and Alex Coleman on Live at 9 on WREG, Channel 3. That interview date will be July 3rd at 9 a.m. Then I have an interview with Bev Johnson on July 4th at 10 a.m. on WDIA. WHEW!!! My friend Candance told me "Pam I don't think you understand, you about to BLOW UP!" I thank Candance for speaking that into existence, as most know me I am a literal person and I know that words have power. I am just basking in God's favor and pray that He continues to rain down more. Stay tuned.

Lot of things are going on. I have two radio interviews scheduled one for WUMR 91.7 and then one for WDIA with Bev Johnson. I also have a television interview scheduled with WMC-TV Channel 5. I am so excited about all of these. This is just another way to get my book publicized. And Donna Davis is supposed to be doing the interview. Now for me that is big time because usually book interviews are normally done on the weekend or early morning, but evidently this is something that warrants prime time. I have my own thoughts but I will save those until after the interviews. My book is also now available on Amazon.com and in two book stores - Urban Knowledge (Southland Mall and Hickory Ridge Mall) and Davis-Kidd Booksellers on Perkins. Stay tuned for further updates. Now on to my next stop.
Oh P.S. Although I want certain things to happen when I want them to happen I have learned to just enjoy the journey. Through all the ups, downs, negative people and failed relationships, I have learned that I can enjoy the flowers, rain and sunshine along the way. I hope you do too.
Blessings. |

I've got to get used to writing in this blog. Over this past weekend my friends/business partners and I participated as vendors at the 11th Annual Sisterhood Outreach Summit and Showcase, to us Memphians the Sisterhood Showcase. I had such a wonderful time. Not only did I sell books, but another marketing idea came up in the process. It is truly amazing to finally operate in purpose and destiny. I can only imagine that I will continue to be in awe of my path, but I’m gonna walk on.
For you ladies that saw me at the Showcase, look for your t-shirts soon. Let me get some legal things out of the way and they will be in your hands.
Thank you to all who came out and supported me. I definitely appreciate it.
Until next time.

| Wow, I got my books back from the printer. They are absolutely beautiful. I could do nothing but hold one the books as if it was a new born baby. Truthfully thats what it was a "BIRTH". I labored months with this book with many pains and then came time to push. Oh my, as with any birth pushing is the hardest part, but I did it. Now I have to grow this child and raise it as I would any other. I think I'm up for the challenge. With prayer and hard work success will follow. |
